Twitter Rebranding: Elon Musk Teases ‘X’ as the Future of Interactivity

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, revealed on Sunday that Twitter will be bidding farewell to its iconic bird logo and the brand name. Instead, the platform will be adopting a new identity represented by the letter ‘X.’

He shared a post stating, “X.com now points to twitter.com,” indicating the transformation that is about to take place. Musk also confirmed that the ‘Interim X logo’ will go live later on the same day.

According to Yaccarino, ‘X’ represents the future state of unlimited interactivity, with a focus on audio, video, messaging, payments, and banking. The vision for ‘X’ is to create a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities, all powered by advanced AI technology. Yaccarino emphasized that ‘X’ will revolutionize the way users connect with each other, unlocking new possibilities that were once only imagined.

The introduction of ‘X’ aligns with Musk’s ambitious vision for Twitter. Reports from May had revealed that Twitter was already registered under a company named X.corp. The move towards ‘X’ reflects Musk’s intention to transform Twitter into a super app, much like China’s WeChat. With this transformation, Twitter aims to expand into various sectors, including payments, messaging, job search, and more.
