Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy SmartTag 2 has recently passed through the FCC, signaling its imminent launch in the coming weeks. The successor to Samsung’s AirTag competitor, the SmartTag 2, received its Bluetooth certification earlier this month and is now one step closer to reaching consumers.
The FCC certification also brought an image of the SmartTag 2, confirming its design. While still branded as Galaxy SmartTag, it might officially be named Galaxy SmartTag 2. The model number is EI-T5600. Originally expected to be unveiled at Samsung Unpacked last week, it was likely held back due to the event already featuring several other device announcements. These included the Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Watch6 family, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.

The SmartTag 2 boasts a new oval-shaped design, departing from the square form of its predecessor. Furthermore, it features a larger keyring hole, making it easier to attach directly to a keyring. Unlike the original SmartTag, which lacked Ultra-Wideband (UWB) connectivity, the new version will have both Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) and UWB connectivity. It appears that there will be just one model of the SmartTag 2, unlike its predecessor, which had a separate SmartTag+ variant with UWB.
With the SmartTag 2 now advancing through the certification process, Samsung fans can anticipate its official launch in the near future. As the release date approaches, consumers can expect more information on pricing and availability. Stay tuned for updates as we keep an eye on Samsung’s latest tracking accessory.
